Halloween Special!

Hello, friends! Welcome to my Halloween Special of Cuddle Puppy! I wanted to make a Halloween post because all my new friends need to see my costume this year!

Puppy Halloween

Puppy Halloween is a little different from Human Halloween. We don’t really go trick-or-treating the same way, but Momma does take me on a walk every Halloween (or as close to Halloween as possible) to show off my costume!

Momma started this tradition in college because she thought people would enjoy seeing a little puppy all dressed up. She got a bit carried away with costumes that year! Thankfully, I got to share them with Leia in college; otherwise, I think Momma would’ve made me wear all of them!

These days, the tradition is at least one walk in costume, although—if the weather’s nice—I’ll do several walks the week before to spread puppy cheer! This year, it was a little too warm to wear my costume on every walk, so Momma did a photo shoot on a nice day and then we saved our walk for a cooler one.

Puppy Trick-or-Treating

Momma gets lots of compliments on my costume, but the best part is the puppy treats! It’s my own form of trick-or-treating: if I behave and stay in costume, I get yummy treats! Sometimes I shake off costumes with hats, but Momma’s usually fine with that, since she says my face is cute enough without one. I’m pretty glad she doesn’t make me wear hats every year—they don’t stay on too well!

And the best part of puppy trick-or-treating? The tricks are puppy tricks! Sometimes Momma asks me to sit or pose, and that’s my “trick.” Then, I get a treat for doing it! It’s my favorite part of Halloween, since nothing about it is scary!

This year, we ran into a spooky skeleton! I wasn’t too afraid. I was a dragon, after all. But it was interesting to see the Halloween decorations on our puppy walk.

Puppy Pumpkin

This year, Momma dressed me up as a pumpkin and dressed the pumpkin up as me! She loves art, so she decided to carve my face into a pumpkin. I think she did pretty well, though I don’t quite understand the whole pumpkin-carving thing. My pumpkin costume was a bit tight, but I stayed in it because I got lots of yummy treats for posing next to Momma’s pumpkin!

I actually do like pumpkin—but only the mushed kind found in doggy food or treats, not the whole big pumpkin. Did you know some pumpkins are bigger than me?? I mean, I’m a small puppy, but I didn’t know food could grow that huge!
